Holidays 2009 Greece Ionian - Island of Lefkada

The Greek Ionian island of Lefkada is located along the west coast of Greece. It is in the middle of a group of islands known as "Eptanisos" ( seven islands ). Lefkada is separated from the mainland by a cantalever road bridge and has an extension of 300 sq.km, together with its numerous surrounding islands it is one of the least populated areas of Greece with around 23,000 inhabitants. The summers are hot with mild winters and an adequate rainfall ensuring a warm fresh climate, giving a lush green flora with cypresses and olives and a fauna of many rare migratory birds, dolphins and turtles.
